STAGE 0a · TEST SETUP
One invite.
Everyone joins.
Friends open the same invitation and tap Join session. No account, nickname, or code to enter. Everyone starts as a listener; one person takes the microphone when ready.
1. Pick a song
Choose “I’m singing,” then choose a song from Files or use the short demo. MP3, M4A and WAV files up to six minutes and 25 MB are supported, subject to the phone’s decoding limits. Preview your song keeps the microphone off.
An instrumental works best. You can add a matching .lrc file for timed lyrics. The song file stays on your device; friends hear the live music-and-voice mix. Files must be selected again after refreshing. Automatic vocal removal, YouTube link preparation, and a shared song library are not implemented yet.
2. Open your invitation in Safari
Use the complete HTTPS link your friend shared. Tap Join session; if the music stays silent, tap Enable sound and check your volume. No account or access code is needed. Anyone holding the invitation can join, so keep it within your group.
If the app says the room needs setup, send that message to the person hosting the test. A localhost address only works on the computer running it.
3. Join, listen, then take a turn
- Open the full invitation in Safari and tap Join session. Your microphone and camera stay off. Tap Enable sound if Safari needs another gesture.
- Use Copy invite link to bring in another friend. Several listeners can hear the same performance.
- Agree who sings next. That person taps Take the mic, picks a song and chooses Phone speaker or Headphones / AirPods, chooses Front camera and Vocal polish, then taps Start singing and allows the requested access. Make a video replay is optional and off initially.
- Stop and wait for cleanup before the next singer starts. If Check cleanup appears, keep the page open and resolve it before another attempt.
There is no automatic singer queue or host control yet. Simultaneous attempts to take the mic are not fully protected; coordinate turns. Keep Safari open: hiding the page or changing networks stops this test, and rejoining is explicit.
Phone speaker mode requests echo cancellation. Start at a comfortable volume. For headphones, connect them before starting; AirPods, other Bluetooth headsets and wired headphones are supported mode choices. iOS chooses the actual microphone and output, and Bluetooth may change their sound or delay. If the sound route changes, stop, check it, and start again.
4. Start with two, then bring all six
Start with two iPhones on separate networks before adding more listeners. The delay control starts at zero and is uncalibrated. Use the original five-minute marker track and a controlled loopback test to measure alignment and drift; human singing alone cannot establish device delay.
After the two-phone check, bring in the other four friends: one singer and five listeners. Everyone should hear both music and voice once, without an echo. Try phone speaker and headset modes separately, and report your iPhone model, iOS version, sound route, and any silence or dropouts. Actual iPhone and AirPods audio/video checks are still unrun. Try a short performance with camera and polish, then compare with polish off. Simultaneous duets come later.
Each app connection stops after 30 minutes and can be joined again after cleanup. New test rooms request an eight-person limit; an existing room’s settings must be checked separately.
5. Give your song an encore
Before singing, turn on Make a video replay. A recording indicator appears while your original camera video and live audio mix are saved on your device. Vocal polish uses gentle tone shaping, compression and a little ambience; it does not correct pitch. Camera can be switched off before a turn for audio-only singing.
After the song, preview Your encore, tap Save video to keep it, or coordinate the next turn and tap Play for everyone. Replay playback uses the saved take with your microphone and camera off. Leave a listening session before starting the replay. Save the current replay if you want to keep it, then discard it before making another.
Replays are local and are lost when this page refreshes or closes unless saved. No take is uploaded for AI processing. Keep the app visible while recording or replaying; a call, lock or app switch may stop the performance. Recording is limited to about six minutes and 100 MB. Start with a short take on your phone.
